Description

Illusion 2 is the third iteration of this innovative exploration of dance, glass sculpture, and environment sound, each representing different relationships between the dancers, the glass, and the audience. In the first piece, Shizuku Drop series, glass droplets were created and suspended from rafters. The second piece, Illusion, uses Project Artaud theater’s steeply raked stage, dramatic lighting, and a series of five glass sets to create a world of visual and emotional “illusions.” For the final installment, Illusion II, MoBu will bring the audience into that world: specifically, the audience will be invited to walk through SomArts as at a visual art exhibition, viewing performances by the dancers as they interact with glass and mirrored sculptures designed to catch, focus, and distort light.

The word “illusion” has many interpretations, the first being a false idea or belief. Referring to its emotional context, “Illusion” series invites the audience to question reality and the nature of truth.
