In 2004 DancEsteem started an exchange program with Sanae Hara Dance Academy in Shizuoka Japan. Students from America and Japan perform at each other’s annual performance. This year 8 students of the program and their family went to Japan to participate. This program’s goal is to provide an opportunity for students to experience other cultures through dance. This program is offered to all students who are committed to dance and work hard (above 4th grade and more than 3 years of participation in the program with advanced classes required).
MoBu Dance Studio offers three different kinds of exchange program with Japan, Mexico, and other countries.
Japan Cultural Exchange Program
Our Cultural Exchange program with Sanae Hara Modern Dance Academy in Shizuoka, Japan began in 2004. This means that my students and her students perform at each other’s annual performance. This exchange program’s goal is to create the opportunity for students to experience different cultures and people thought dance. The program offered to all students who are committed to dance and what to work hard. They must be going into 6th grade (finishing 5th grade that year) and above, with more than 3 years of participation in the program and take ballet class along with Takami’s class.
Mexico Exchange Program
This exchange program just started 2015 with Contempodanza – Center for the Professional Development of Contemporary Dancers, Mexico city, Mexico. This is program also my students and Contempodanza students perform each other performance. This exchange goal is also create the opportunity for the students to experience different cultures and people though dance. This program offer students who are going to 9th grade more than 5 years in the program and committed to dance and work hard. They are required to take at least 2 classes a week. 2015 the first time 5 high school students participate this program.
International Dance Festival Participation
This program is for Teen dancers (high school students) who have been in the program at least 5 years and are committed to dance and working hard. They are also required to take at least 2 classes a week. We participated in The Prague International Dance Festival in 2010 (7 dancers, 2nd place choreography) and 2014 (8 dancers, 3rd place choreography & City of Prague Awards)
